Research is showing more and more that our thoughts and feelings create our reality; that focusing on the negative breeds negativity, while focusing on the positive attracts to us the people, opportunities and resources we need to bring about positive change.
Our mind responds strongly to visual stimulation and therefore Visualisation is one of the most powerful mind exercises we can do. We know that athletes and public speakers use visualisation as standard practice to help them achieve their goals, and more and more businesses are using this simple tool to enable growth and expansion.
It’s not just athletes, politicians and large businesses that have goals. We all have dreams and aspirations, but we often fall short of realising them. A Vision Board is a visual representation of our intentions, which brings clarity and focus to our goals in a creative, fun way.
During a workshop, we are invited to review habits or activities that have worked in the past or that have failed. We then set our intentions for the future, which might be the next year, the next few months or even the next few weeks. Before we start creating our board, we write down our goals and share them with each other. This reinforces our intentions and becomes the first step towards achieving them.
Once we have a clear vision of our goals, we are ready to create our Vision Board using pictures, photos, quotes, poems, symbolic objects…. anything that is relevant to you!
Research has shown that an activity or thought that is repeated on a daily basis becomes a habit after about 3 weeks, so the best way to achieve our goals is to keep them in our thoughts. By placing our Vision Board somewhere where we can look at it regularly we are able to keep our attention on our intentions and before long we will see our dreams becoming a reality!
